Chelsea have reportedly made contact with Germany boss Hansi Flick with the view to appointing him as Graham Potter’s replacement in the coming months.
The Blues only appointed Potter last September following the club’s decision to part ways with Thomas Tuchel.
Under the Englishman, they got off to a great start but they are in the middle of a poor run of form. They have won just two of their last ten games in the Premier League.
Chelsea have struggled for goals this term and their last two league games against Liverpool and Fulham have finished goalless.
Over the past couple of months, they have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup by Manchester City.
The London outfit are currently ninth in the Premier League and this is despite them spending around £600m on new signings since the start of this season.
Chelsea are building for the future with their signings but it remains to be seen if Potter will be trusted to carry out the project given that the club are historically trigger-happy when it comes to sacking managers.
Christian Falk is reporting that Chelsea have been ‘knocking at Flick’s door’. He previously managed Bayern Munich between 2019 and 2021.
The 57-year-old has been the manager of Germany’s national team since August 2021. The European nation exited the World Cup in disappointing fashion in the group stages last year but Flick remains under contract until after the European Championships in 2024.
Falk also states that Flick has refused to deny that he has been contacted by Chelsea.
‘I heard that Hansi Flick is an idea as a potential replacement for Graham Potter. I know about the rumours that surfaced after he was spotted at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea’s clash with Fulham but he was actually there because of Kai Havertz,’ Falk wrote for Caught Offside.
