ARSENAL VS MANCHESTER CITY Head to head potential starting lineups | Premier league 2022/2023
The two teams are locked in battle for the Premier League title as Mikel Arteta hunts his maiden league title as a manager.
Unfortunately for him, he is up against a serial league winner in Pep Guardiola, a man he knows only too well from the time he spent as his second in command in Manchester.
Here, The Athletic takes you through everything you need to know ahead of the biggest game of the Premier League season so far.
When is Arsenal vs Manchester City?
Arsenal vs Manchester City is being played on Wednesday, February 15 and kicks off at 7:30pm GMT (2:30pm EST, 11:30am PT).
In the UK, the game is being shown on Amazon Prime with the coverage starting an hour before kick-off, at 6:30pm GMT.
Viewers in the US will be able to watch the game on Peacock.
Why is Arsenal vs Manchester City being played on a Champions League night?
It is odd timing for such a game to be played during the midweek that coincides with the return of the Champions League knockout stage as UEFA have often been frustrated by fixture clashes with their own club competitions.
To see arguably the biggest domestic game in Europe, at the moment, being played on the same evening as a couple of Champions League last-16 ties will not have impressed those at UEFA headquarters.
Real Madrid facing Elche on the same night cannot have helped either.
However, both Arsenal and Manchester City were owed a favour by UEFA.
The game was initially scheduled for earlier in the season, on October 19. That was one of the games that was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and its rearranged date meant that Arsenal would be unable to play their final Europa League group stage fixture before the World Cup.
UEFA asked the Premier League to postpone the fixture so that Arteta’s side could finish their European campaign on time. Therefore, there were no arguments between parties when this Wednesday evening was selected as the new date.
Club Bruges vs Benfica and Borussia Dortmund vs Chelsea are the two Champions League matches being played at the same time as Arsenal vs Manchester City.
